STI College Balayan Hospitality and Restaurant Services students passed the National Certificate II (NCII) assessment conducted last January 18 to 20 at the school’s campus by TESDA Assessors with 100% passing rate in Housekeeping and a breaking record of 1 hour and 48 minutes shortest preparation time by Marben Digno in Commercial Cooking.
In line with STI’s vision of educating students to become competent in their chosen fields and be at par with the industry standards, the HRS students who passed the NCII assessment once again proved its worth as the students proved more than competent after two years of staying at STI. The HRS students were proud to pass the NCII assessment that covers three certifications: Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Services, and Commercial Cooking. Marben Digno said it was all from their training at STI and believing that time is gold which made him finish at the shortest time in Commercial Cooking assessment with a record of 1 hour and 48 minutes.
Topping the assessment record was the 100% passing rate out of 51 students who took the assessment in Housekeeping, 98% out of 52 students in Commercial Cooking and 81% out of 54 students in Food and Beverage Services. Students who did not pass the NCII were given certificates of competency in line with the assessment that they took.
Mr. Eddie Jose Medrano, HRS Program Head and also a TESDA Certified NCII trainer stated that that the students were immense during their training and were seriously aiming to be effective and efficient cook and food servers.
The assessment was conducted by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority’s (TESDA) to assess and certify competencies and to determine whether the graduate can perform to the standards expected in the workplace based on the defined competency standards. Mr. Eddie Jose Medrano, HRS Program Head and also a TESDA Certified NCII trainer stated that that the students were immense during their training and were seriously aiming to be effective and efficient cook and food servers. TESDA assessors also commented on the students’ skills and enthusiasm while undergoing assessment.
