Region IV-A Web
Design champion Jun G. Bugtong, 4th year BSIT student competed in
the same category during the Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC) last
April 7-11, 2014 and went home with a Silver Medal and pride for STI College
Balayan.
Right after winning
the regional last November, Jun and his coach, Mr. Norman Caraig started the
intensive training in Web Design to prepare for the national competition. Since
he was a graduating student, he learned to juggle his time attending his on the
job training and preparing for the competition which was held in MFI Foundation
in Pasig. “Competing in the national was
superb but it gave me chills knowing that I’m competing against the contenders
from all over the country. It also makes me more eager to win and I know I have
given my very best. Although I only made it to silver, I have no regrets”, Jun
said.
Jun competed against
the representatives from Regions I, III, V, VI, VII, X, XII and NCR. Percian
Joseph C. Borja of Region III bagged the honor of representing the Philippines
in the 10th Asean Skills Competition Web Design category to be held
in Hanoi, Vietman this October. Nonetheless, STI College Balayan was very proud
of him and vested him the “Programmer of the Year” award.
The PNSC was
organized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)
and the highest level of skills competition to showcase the student’s skills in
their respective trade area like Beauty Therapy, Cooking, Fashion Technology,
Hairdressing, Restaurant Services, Graphic Design Technology, IT Network
Systems Administration, IT Software Solutions for Business, Mechanical
Engineering Design-CAD, Mechatronics, Electrical Installation, Refrigeration
and Air-Conditioning, Welding, Electronics and Automobile Technology which was
held simultaneously in other host regions.
