Memoirs of Philippine culture were relived as STI College Balayan holds the “Pistahan sa Barangay STI” in celebration of its 14th anniversary last March 20, 2012.
Faculty and Staff with Students for Tug of War |
To bring back the native Filipino lifestyle, STI faculty, staff, and students, dressed up in Philippine traditional dresses and mirrored the ancestral customs and practices while the campus itself flourished with “banderitas” and colorful decorations when the “Bahay Kubos” lined up in the grounds representing the different professional organizations – each decorated by the students of the respective programs. Different Filipino dishes and delicacies were prepared and were feasted.
“Patintero”, Bunong-Braso”, “Lundag-Sako”, “Palosebo”, “Kadang-Kadang”, “Tayakad”, and Tug of War tested the strength, speed, agility and endurance of each student, staff and faculty members who joined the classic Filipino games later in the day.
Fiesta feast |
The festivity started with a thanksgiving mass and was highlighted by the “Santakrusan” joined by representatives from each program. Balayeños stood in awe of the 17 beauties who paraded the vicinity in their Filipiniana dresses.
