The first topic enlightened students of “Self-Assessment/Multiple Intelligence”, and was delivered by Mr. Renato Dela Cruz. Next was about “Multimedia Workforce” which explained the world of computer animation by Mr. Ronan Caringal. The students also admired the projects presented by the BSCoE and BSCS graduating students to showcase the skills honed by the college like the Motorcycle Security System with GPS and GSM Application, Classroom Monitoring System with RF Technology and the mobile game entitled "Quest of Insulina", an educational game in diabetis awareness.

In lieu of the event, the “Notepad”, STI Balayan’s official band as well the Dance Troupe lightened up the stage to showcase STI talents and convey the message of being well-rounded individuals. To help promote change through quality education, a total of 19 high school students were given the “Gift of Knowledge” scholarship grants in any course offered by STI Balayan.

Pistahan sa Barangay STI

By: Jemima Velado

Memoirs of Philippine culture were relived as STI College Balayan holds the “Pistahan sa Barangay STI” in celebration of its 14th anniversary last March 20, 2012.

Faculty and Staff with Students for Tug of War

To bring back the native Filipino lifestyle, STI faculty, staff, and students, dressed up in Philippine traditional dresses and mirrored the ancestral customs and practices while the campus itself flourished with “banderitas” and colorful decorations when the “Bahay Kubos” lined up in the grounds representing the different professional organizations – each decorated by the students of the respective programs. Different Filipino dishes and delicacies were prepared and were feasted.

“Patintero”, Bunong-Braso”, “Lundag-Sako”, “Palosebo”, “Kadang-Kadang”, “Tayakad”, and Tug of War tested the strength, speed, agility and endurance of each student, staff and faculty members who joined the classic Filipino games later in the day.

Fiesta feast
The festivity started with a thanksgiving mass and was highlighted by the “Santakrusan” joined by representatives from each program. BalayeƱos stood in awe of the 17 beauties who paraded the vicinity in their Filipiniana dresses.

From all the cheers of the day, everyone was reminded about how rich our culture is and the value of Filipinism.

By: Terranya M. Tiamson
Researcher: Mariz Maullon

In high-regards to our school, STI College Balayan’s strict compliance to the standards set by the Technological Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the wholeness of its facilities was declared the benchmark in Region 4A especially for the HRS program.

Hotel and Restaurant Laboratory
TESDA Auditors Mr. Francisco Reyes, Ms. Araceli Corpuz and Ms. Elenita Manzano explicitly stated their admiration to our school during the compliance audit last November 9, 2011 in the presence of our President Mrs. Ellen Christy A. Dimaano, Academic Head Engr. Oliver Noriega and Registrar Ms. Marilyn Guno. The audit was done annually to determine whether the institution is continuously complying with the TESDA’s requirements for each registered programs and inspected not only the facilities but also the documents used in delivering the programs under their training regulations. They commended our school’s well maintained facilities, sufficient tools and equipments, updated documents, used of licensed softwares, manifestations of the Competency-Based Training (CBT) approach in delivering training to our students and most importantly to our competent and certified trainers who are mostly accredited TESDA Assessors.

In this light, it will not be a question why our school was also designated as the assessment center for several qualifications for the entire province of Batangas which includes Computer Hardware Servicing NCII, Bread and Pastry Production NCII, Housekeeping NCII, Bartending NCII, Commercial Cooking NCII, Food and Beverage Services NCII and Programming NCIV.
Our school, STI College Balayan is also the domicile of accredited assessors like Engr. Jay Ilagan for Computer Hardware Servicing NCII, Mr. Victoriano B. Casiserano for Computer Hardware Servicing NCII and Bookkeeping NCII, Mr. Norman Caraig for 2D Animation NCIII, Mr. Eddie Jose Medrano for Commercial Cooking NCII and Food and Beverage Services NCIII and Ms. Terranya M.
